Washington - Many parents sit small children in the middle of the car seat for safety reasons.

But, what happens if a parent has more than one child? where children should sit in the middle seat? Are children who are older, bigger, or the smallest?

In general, the answer to this question is dependent. The most secure seats in the car itself also depend on several things, among them the seat belt according to the size of the person using it.

Even so, some safety experts have a record of its own. According to them, the proper sitting position can be determined based on the age of the child.

According to Carole Guzzetta, driving safety specialists from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), all children under the age of 13 years should be seated in the rear seat and use a seat belt accordingly.

"For children between the ages of 10 and 12 should still be in the back seat, but they need a booster seat," added Guzzetta as quoted from Yahoo Autos, Tuesday (21/07/2015).

Meanwhile, for teenagers whose age was approximately 16 years more appropriate to sit in the front passenger seat. According to NHTSA, the front passenger seat is getting safer with airbags and safety belt are more sophisticated.

Then, Guzzetta also said that the middle seat is the safest place, as long as it is equipped with a three-point seatbelt shoulder. Suitable for any age child sitting in that position.

However, if the middle seat is not equipped with the safety features, Guzzetta recommends that children of any age do not sit there.
